Reasonably insulated spaces in our Minnesota climate can accommodate about 25 BTU’s per square foot. Every house is different but you always need to be mindful of how the heat is to be moved from its point of generation to other parts of the house.
The most comfortable heat is radiant. Second place goes to natural convection and last place to forced air convection. Most gas stoves are natural convection unless you opt for a fan.

As of January 1, 2015, all new gas fireplaces, fireplace inserts, and Stoves that vent to the outside, must be manufactured with a protective barrier screen. This screen will be there to prevent your child and others from coming into direct contact with the glass front of the fireplace. As a result, not all of the units currently on our site meet these new requirements, nor are they required to.
